Ms Klarine Schutte

Bio
Ms Klarine Schutte is a passionate conservationist and community developer with a background in Agricultural Economics. She holds a BScAgric (Cum laude) in Agricultural Economics from the University of Pretoria and currently pursuing MSc in Agricultural Sciences in Stellenbosch University. Her research, titled: Measuring the Impact of South African National Parks' Wildlife Economy Programme on the Lives of Local People and Biodiversity Conservation, supervised by Dr Hayley Clements, with co-supervisors Prof Karen Esler and Dr Howard Hendricks (SANParks). The study focuses on evaluating how game loan and donation programs contribute to socio-economic development and conservation and community development initiatives. She helps manage a roan breeding program in Kruger National Park and has led various community projects, including a blanket project, establishing a library and building a community hall in Skukuza. Klarine is committed to bridging conservation and socio-economic development, ensuring that rural communities benefit from conservation efforts.

Ms Klarine Schutte joined AWEI in September 2024 as a Programme Assistant and Research Associate. She is contributing to various AWEI projects, furthering her dedication to integrating conservation with sustainable rural development.
